Description

APE Michelangelo 12×24 Matte — Quartzite-Inspired Porcelain from Spain

The APE Michelangelo 12×24 Matte is a quartzite-inspired marble-look porcelain tile from Spain in a versatile 12″x24″ rectified format, with a soft matte surface that performs equally well underfoot or on walls, indoors or out. Its luminous white base with delicate crystalline veining captures the exotic charm of Brazilian quartzite — a rare natural stone prized for its sparkle and translucence — and delivers it through modern glazed porcelain engineered for residential and light commercial installations across the Northeast US and nationwide.

About the Michelangelo Collection by APE Grupo

The Michelangelo collection by APE Grupo is inspired by the exotic Brazilian quartzites — natural stones whose white bases are punctuated by small luminous crystals reminiscent of starlight on snow. Manufactured by APE Cerámica in Castellón, Spain — one of Europe’s most respected ceramic regions — Michelangelo translates that rare aesthetic into a durable, low-maintenance porcelain product available in coordinated rectified formats and two finishes (matte and polished). The collection is rated PEI 5 — the highest abrasion class — making it suitable for unprotected high-traffic areas in both residential and light commercial environments.

Design Notes — Why Specify Michelangelo

Where most marble-look porcelain mimics traditional Italian veining, Michelangelo offers something different — the crystalline sparkle and depth of quartzite, a stone increasingly specified in luxury interiors for its uniqueness. Pair with warm wood vanities and brushed brass for a softer, residential warmth, or with matte black fixtures and concrete-look companion tiles for a more architectural, contemporary statement. The slight V2 shade variation gives installations a cohesive, refined appearance without the heavy variation of more random natural stones.

Installation & Applications for APE Michelangelo 12×24 Matte

The 12″x24″ rectified format supports tight grout joints and a clean, modern installation. With an R10 slip rating, the matte finish is specifically approved for both interior and exterior floor applications including kitchens, bathrooms, mudrooms, foyers, patios, and commercial floors. The rectified edges allow grout joints down to 1/16″. Frost resistant and rated PEI 5, this product handles the most demanding floor environments. Cross-coordinate with matching sizes and the polished finish for floor-to-wall continuity within the same Michelangelo look.
